"Maria Bamford - The Burning Bridges Tour" was released this past week. Yipee

OK, it is not a video. But it is nearly 50 minutes solid of Maria Bamford at her best before a wild crowd at the Acme Comedy Company, Minneapolis in October of 2002. I ordered a copy just as soon as it hit the market and listened to it as soon as it arrived

Simply fabulous!

This is probably THE definitive collection of Maria's stand-up routines, both classic and more recent. Almost everything is here from "Goddess of Little Lake Pequaym" to "The Pterodactyl Song". And the MC sums it all up at the very end when he exclaims "she's awesome".

This is simply a must-have for any Maria Bamford fan.

Maria Premiers Her New "One-Person Sitcom"

SuperFan Don Feeney sent in a report on Maria Bamford's recent live performance on December 8:

Attended Maria's "One Person Non-Profit Sitcom" last night. The show was held at the Fake Gallery, one of the many small theatres in Los Angeles. All the proceeds from the show went to a charity called "Habitat for Humanity".

The place was packed; Maria has built a strong and loyal fan base here in LA. We were all excited to see her as a brunette. She even brought Blossom!

Her show was unique and refreshing, full of new material. Maria basically performed an entire "sitcom" based on her visit back home, and did a great job impersonating each member of her family and many others. My favorite was a new character, Linda, who Maria met at a local 12-step meeting in Duluth.

Maria Prepares TV Show Pilot
=====================================================
Maria is working on a pilot for a comedy show staring herself playing herself... and playing her mother, father, sister, and agent! She sent some still photos which I've posted on the site. You gotta see 'em!

Maria in Upcoming Feature Animated Film
=====================================================
Maria has just recorded a sizeable role as "Mrs. Beady" in the
feature animated film "Barnyard", directed by Steve Oedekerk. Steve is best known for his screenwriting work on "Patch Adams" and "Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius" as well as directing "Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls", "Kung Pow: Enter the Fist", and "Thumb Wars: The Phantom Cuticle" as well as numerous other projects.

According to Maria "he is a very nice man and extremely funny and let me improvise whatever I wanted and it was lovely." No information yet on a release date.
 

Maria Thrilled with One-Person Non-Profit Sitcom

According to Maria... "The one-person show went great and we raised $320 for Habitat for Humanity. The CD donations have added to be over $100 now, but the total of over $400 is including show revenues! Sorry about not making that clearer! I'm a bit embarrassed - I'll make it more clear on my site of where the donations came from."

" Don Feeney and his lovely wife Fay Feeney as well as many other friends/fans that I met for the first time. Jason (who I only know by e-mail as the Lizard King) brought a bunch of friends from work- which was extremely kind and then my friend Solange said a younger gal brought her whole family from Altadena, but I never got to talk to them!"

" Anyways, got lots of helpful feedback from fans/friends and my agent and am really looking forward to January 24th and 25th to implement the suggestions. Thanks to all of the fans! The show would not have been any where near the success it was without them and I appreciate everyone who came out!"

Final Notes

Maria mentioned having an appearance on "New Year's" (Eve or Day??) in San Francisco at the Palace of the Art with Patton Oswald and other comedians. Again, I'll try to get the particulars as soon as possible.

And, oh yes... did you thank Comedy Central for airing Maria's 1/2 Hour Comedy Special last Friday? They need to know how many fans she has... go to their mail form now and write them a brief note of thanks and encourage them to play more Maria Bamford.
