"Stella's Search For Sanity"Now On DVD and VHS
This indie comedy film by Peter J. Alessandria
and Solange Castro Belcher features Maria Bamford as Stella's "current

The
screenplay began as a sketch written for Solange and Maria Bamford
to perform at Maria's parties. Solange plans to work on a feature length
version of "Stella". The current version has been shown publicly
only twice so far in the LA area. But you can order a DVD or VHS copy
now and get a jump on the rest of the world!
Who knows? This video may
become a collector's item for Bamford fans in a few years. So order
yours now online by going to the film's official
website. VHS is $15, DVD is $20. Hey, I'm getting a copy!

REVIEW: Maria Bamford Charity Performance
Mental Health Association
Milwaukee County
May 31, 2003
Astor Hotel in Milwaukee, WI
-----------------------------------
by Steve Gardner (Chat Board Name -- "sheltie")
Hi All: Well,
here it is. My review of Maria's performance for the Mental Health
Association in Milwaukee on May 31. Surprise, she was incredible!!!
She had a packed house rolling in the aisles and pounding on the tables
for more. I thought I had seen most of her material, but she caught
me
totally off-guard with an unbelievably funny take-off on "Old
MacDonald." In
her version, it's "Old MacDonald had a Pterodactyl ... with a
(insert the most ungodly shrieking noise you've ever heard in your
life here!)
and a (insert) (insert) there, here an (insert) well, you get the idea.
Candee
and I had dinner with Maria and 3 other friends of our's on Friday
night, and just like Cyn and Eugene said, she is the sweetest,
most wonderful
person you'd ever care to meet. She autographed my videotape of her
Comedy Central performance with a truly sweet saying (sorry guys,
just between
us).
After the fundraiser on Saturday night, we sat
around and chatted with Maria some more. I've been around a number
of celebrities, but
never
one as warm and genuinely nice to her fans as Maria. A real plus
was that I was able to hook her up with the booking agent for our
biggest
comedy club in Milwaukee and a friend who has drawn some network
interest in a sitcom she's writing .... before you knew it, the
three of them
were huddling around talking about Maria starring in it. Keep you
eyes and ears open folks!
Just to sum it all up ... all of us in
this room are fans of the nicest, most genuine person I've ever met.
So, if nothing else,
we all have
that in common .... and that, of course, makes all of pretty
cool!
BTW, Maria says hi to all of you and gave a
special hello to Eugene and Cyn.
Take care everybody. Hope to talk with you soon. Especially
you, Juice Box.

Hi! Saw Maria on Comedy Central today, I've liked her work in the past
but
something made me look her up on the internet, not only am I a guy that
has
always wanted to be a comic, and I do voices, so I've always had my heart
kinda go out, but I have a dwarf hamster, a male named Henry. Anyways,
when I saw the fanclub link I thought what the hey!

Maria Bamford was on TV one afternoon.
I don't watch much TV, but my husband does. I was reading and he was "watching" (asleep
in the recliner w/ a death grip on the remote) I was too lazy to get
up. She is so funny.
Maybe we can go to see her when she is in Texas

I saw Maria on Comedy Central and
thought she was a lot funnier than most comedians on there.
I think she appeals to most of us because she is like
that one quirky girl we went to school with, but Maria is easier to look
at and is a lot funnier.
Kind of like the girl next door that can do funny voices and has a distorted
view of the world.
I look forward to reading updates!

Wow. The Duluth audience [for the
Norshore Theater performance] turned out after massive promotional effort
by sponsors (three radio talk shows
+ newscast coverage on two local channels).
I'd guess 650 of 800 seats
were filled. Audience held out through several
comedians who said they were glad to come over the "Bong, High or
Joint"
bridges in Duluth to attend, then they really let loose to welcome Maria.
Next, about an hour of laughter, and tears from laughter as she held
them spellbound. It was the only comedy show I have ever seen in which
there
was a standing ovation
I, of course, was unmoved.
